Southern Utah University, Bears Ears Partnership, Bureau of Land Management, and the Institute for Education are offering an exciting and relevant workshop to educators in the Four Corners area.
Learn first-hand how to help your students engage in inquiry-based learning through cross-curricular, student-centered lessons, place-based experiences, and meaningful interactions with elders. The Project Archaeology: Investigating Shelter curriculum is aligned to grade 3-5 state standards and helps educators expand and deepen social studies content for their students. At this workshop participants will experience each lesson as a learner through modeled instruction, gain new perspectives from descendant community presenters, analyze historic data related to authentic archaeological sites, discover new ways to engage students at museums and historic sites, and learn how to improve classroom citizenship and promote responsible use of public lands.
