THE TRAVELING TROWELS

Travelling trowels

How could we mark a major milestone? Perhaps we turn to the past, seeking inspiration from shared heritage and the Program’s history. We could host parties. We could make limited edition swag. We could offer workshops. We could create several opportunities to eat cake! We could celebrate as a community, once or several times. We could bridge archaeology and education, pairing a tool with the people and the places.

A proper 35th Anniversary party needed invitations for two special friends. Terry and Tracy – the Traveling Trowels – began to trek, from an envelope into hosting hands, across the nation. The Traveling Trowels have been invited to classrooms, on vacations, into workplaces. They have applauded educators who are using classrooms to connect learners with culture, shaping their students into stewards. The Trowels have discovered historic, heritage, and archaeological sites in 8 states and the District of Columbia! They have, with their smiles, shared colorful adventures with engaging educators in several places.

From Florida to Pennsylvania and all the way to Utah, Terry and Tracy have collected memories. To add a “hip” to our “hooray,” and to have a shimmering archaeology educator day, sign up to host the Traveling Trowels, too! Fill out the Google Form to host the Program’s two most eager explorers.
